Drum Lessons in Moscow, ID & Clarkston, WA

Thank you for choosing Matt Grubbs as your teacher for drum and percussion lessons. Lessons take place in Moscow, and in Clarkston in dedicated studio space. All equipment is provided. You just need sticks and books. Online lessons are available as well.

Matt is happy to work with children as young as 5 as well as adults who have always wanted to learn drums. You will be getting top level instruction from a conservatory educated Spokane Symphony musician.

Lessons are most beneficial when conducted on full volume acoustic drums. The best way to get a feel for proper technique on an instrument is to play that instrument. Electronic drums and putting pads on drums should only be used in a pinch as temporary measures to reduce the decibel level.

With lessons at Grubbs pro drum center lessons are conducted on side-by-side drum sets in a sound proof building and hearing protection is provided. You won’t get this kind of set up anywhere else in town.

Both reading and playing by ear are essential for drummers therefore beginners start out on snare drum learning technique and how to read. Later comes the coordination of learning to play the whole drum set and learn songs with the opportunity to perform in the annual drum recital.

Cost and Schedule

The recommend minimum is one 1/2 hour drum lesson per week. Students can schedule longer lessons if desired. Having lessons less frequently than this makes it very difficult for most students to progress in their studies. Drum and percussion lessons cost $30.00 per half-hour lesson online and at our Moscow and Clarkston locations. Lessons are scheduled at a mutually agreeable time.

They will consist of 30 minute lessons for the beginner and 45 to 60 minutes for the advanced student. Lessons are offered year round.

Payment for lessons is required at the beginning of every month. You are also welcome to pay several months in advance.
